Poetry and theatrical tales
inspired by her family

This true, warm-hearted, lively story starts in Birmingham, 1917, with the characters growing up as part of a hardworking and creative family. It follows the lives of Ida, Jack, Dora and Louis as they form a thrilling acrobatic dance act – Les Cygne Four.

‘Tread the boards’ with them as they tour variety shows from the 1930s to the 1950s, meet lovely and loathsome landladies and dance their way through success, hardship, war, tragedy and love, displaying courage and determination along the way.

Hello

Thank you for visiting my author page.

A little about me:

I grew up in a creative, theatrical, family where music, poetry, travel and adventure were valued and embraced.

My first poem was published, in a children's magazine, when I was ten. Through the years others have appeared in various magazines and one or two books. I have also written some children's poetry books - published, under the pen name of A. F. B. Griffey.

As a child and teenager I eagerly absorbed family tales of theatre life. These tales hovered at the edge of my mind for over fifty years.

Finally, after a career running a nursery school and lecturing in colleges, I salvaged some scribbled notes from my teenage years and with the aid of a laptop and newspaper archives, We'll Dance When the Ghost Walks was born!

Profit, from my books, is given to charities supporting Cancer and Alzheimer's.
